Penélope Cruz, the Oscar-winning Spanish actress known for her acclaimed performances in films such as ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ and ‘Parallel Mothers’, has revealed the terrible health scare she experienced while filming her latest film, ‘The Black Ball’. The 52-year-old actor announced the news at a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday, May 23, after the film received a standing ovation when it premiered at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.According to Variety , Cruz recalled the moment a doctor warned him about a possible brain aneurysm while he was preparing to shoot nighttime performance scenes for the movie, in which he portrays a cabaret entertainer for soldiers.

Cruz described the moment in vivid detail. “And then when we’re going out, I was putting on my wig, and they said, ‘Oh, it looks like you have a brain aneurysm,'” she recalled. “I thought I was going to die. It’s something that was completely surreal in my life.”The actress said she was cleared the next day after a doctor confirmed she could continue singing and dancing for the production. The experience, he said, completely changed his perspective. “I thought, ‘This is absolutely a miracle. I need, I need to have this in me,'” she said.Cruz praised the film’s production team for their support during the ordeal and reflected on how the experience tied into the film’s larger themes. “You go through these things together, but despite all of that, despite the hardships, you can move forward in life,” he said.

‘The Black Ball’ features an ensemble cast of Glenn Close, Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau, Lola Dueñas and Carlos González.
