Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India today launched the new and updated Honda NX500 with E-Clutch technology. The bike is now priced at Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom), interested customers can book the bike by visiting their nearest Honda BigWing dealership across the country. Apart from the latest update, the bike remains unchanged. It continues with the same design, bodywork and lighting setup, while the engine, hardware and feature set have also been carried over without modification.

How does e-clutch work? Honda’s e-clutch system automatically controls clutch operation using electronic sensors and actuators, reducing the need for manual clutch input during start, stop and gear shifts. The setup manages clutch engagement based on factors such as throttle input, engine speed and gear position. Riders can shift gears using the foot lever without manually operating the clutch, while the system also handles clutch engagement when moving from a standstill and disengages it during stops to avoid stalling. During gear changes, the clutch is briefly disengaged and automatically re-engaged to ensure smooth shifts.Despite the added automation, the system retains the characteristics of a traditional manual bike. Riders have full control over gear selection, and the clutch lever is active at all times, allowing manual override whenever needed. Honda says the technology is designed to reduce rider fatigue, especially in stop-and-go traffic situations where repeated clutch operation can be tiring. The system aims to improve comfort during long-distance riding by reducing physical exertion while maintaining the manual riding experience.
Powering the Honda NX500 is a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine that churns out 47 hp and 43 nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Adventure Tourer is built around a steel diamond frame and is equipped with a Showa SFF-BP top-down front fork as well as an adjustable rear monoshock suspension setup for preload. Braking duties are handled by dual front disc brakes and rear disc brakes, supported by dual-channel ABS as standard. The NX500 rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, a combination that aims to offer a balance between on-road comfort and mild off-road capability. On the features front, the motorcycle gets a 5.0-inch full-color TFT instrument console with Honda RoadSync connectivity, which enables functions like navigation, call alerts and music control. Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is also offered as standard, along with an all-LED lighting package. Honda is offering the NX500 in two colors – Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Horizon White.
