Rumors of a film adaptation of ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ recently created a buzz on social media. Ranveer Singh After the success of the film “Dhurandhar 2”, he acquired the rights of the best-selling mythological fantasy novel. It was also speculated that the actor was planning to turn the story into a large-scale trilogy and would rehearse the role of Lord Shiva on screen.However, author Amish Tripathi has now denied those claims, clarifying that no deal has been finalized for adaptation rights. Amish told Variety India, “The rights of the Shiva Trilogy are with me. And nothing has been signed with anyone yet. Obviously, I have a lot of respect for Ranveer, and I’m a big fan of him. But this news is not true.”
Earlier, a report from Pinkvilla suggested that the adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha was in the writing stage, with Ranveer and Ananya Birla collaborating on the ambitious project. According to the report, the creators envisioned the franchise as a three-part cinematic universe.“Ranveer has been keen on bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially in development. The makers are pitching the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe and the plan is to span over 3 films. The writing work has already started, and the team is taking its time to build the script and the first floor in the world. 2028,” a source told the outlet.The report further claimed that Ranveer would headline the trilogy as Lord Shiva, while the rest of the cast was yet to be locked. The focus remains on developing the script before finalizing a director. “The director will be locked in once the script work reaches a certain stage. Right now, the full focus is on developing the material,” the source added.Reports also stated that the actor got the rights for a huge amount, though the exact figure was not disclosed. Before entering the world of Meluha, she is expected to start working with Ranveer Pralay and the filmmaker Aditya Dharthe director’s next venture, both of which are also underway.
