Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published a comprehensive schedule for submission of List of Candidates (LoC) for Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026. CBSE has linked the LOC process with the declaration of results, giving only limited time to complete the formalities. The first phase of submission and submission of LoC fee is from 16th April (noon) to 20th April 2026.The second phase overlaps the same dates, while the final window, with late fee penalties, is set from April 21 to April 22, 2026.
Who can apply, and who can’t
The firm expands circular access by drawing lines of competence. Students who missed registration during the first LOC phase can now submit their names, while students who have already registered will have to complete the fee payment within the stipulated time.Candidates who had previously opted in but no longer wish to appear are allowed to withdraw. However, students placed in the ‘Essential Repetition’ (ER) category are debarred from appearing in the second examination. For compartmental candidates, the importance of rules remains. These options are available either under the same head or under performance improvement, but the LOC process for these candidates will be implemented only through their individual institutions.
Mathematics Flexibility of options is provided.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has allowed students to switch from Mathematics (Standard) to Mathematics (Basic) in the second attempt. However, the board has drawn a strict line on other subjects, no change will be allowed beyond mathematics. This reinforces the exam’s focus on structural improvement rather than wholesale subject manipulation.
Opportunity for improvement in three core subjects
Candidates who have appeared and passed the main examination will be given the opportunity to improve their scores in up to three subjects, including science, mathematics, social science and languages. The second exam will be completely based on the main board exam 2026 syllabus, thus leaving no room for any confusion regarding the content.
CBSE LOC 2026: Fee Structure
The fee framework reflects clear penalties for delays. For candidates in India, the normal fee is Rs. 320 per subject, amounting to Rs. 960 for three subjects. It rises rapidly to Rs. 3,300 under late fee conditions. For international candidates, the cost goes up further, with fees reaching Rs. 6,600 for three subjects. Additional late fee of Rs. 2,000 per candidate will be levied if the deadline is missed.CBSE has mandated payment of all dues through digital means only, i.e. through Debit/Credit Card, UPI, NEFT, RTGS, or Net Banking.Under no circumstances will any offline transaction including direct bank transfer be considered. It is advised that any offline transactions will not be accounted for, and the respective LOC applications will also be rejected.
