Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Gets New 350cc Engine! How does performance change?

Bajaj Auto has updated the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z with a new 350cc engine, and the change has been quietly announced through its official website. While the mechanical update is significant, the asking price is currently unchanged at Rs 1,93,900, ex-showroom. We expect the prices to be revised as the Dominar was recently given a similar update, resulting in a significant price cut of around Rs 37,000.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 400Z: What’s Changed

The biggest update comes in the form of a new 349cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor. This unit produces 40 hp and 33.2 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous 373cc engine, this marks a drop of 2.4 hp and 1.8 Nm. Interestingly, this output is the same that the motorcycle delivered at the time of its initial launch. The new engine is expected to be closely related to the unit seen on the Bajaj Dominar 400 in its latest guise. As part of the transition, Bajaj has shortened the stroke by 60mm to 56.1mm, reducing the engine’s displacement from 373cc to 349cc, while the bore remains unchanged at 89mm.

Apart from the engine, the rest of the motorcycle has not been changed. The NS400Z continues to use the same frame and rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by USD front forks and a rear monoshock, while braking is taken care of by dual-channel ABS with 320mm front disc and 230mm rear disc. The move is in line with Bajaj’s recent strategy of downsizing its larger capacity motorcycles to the 350cc bracket. For now, there is no change in the price of the Pulsar NS400Z on the company’s website, though it remains to be seen if Bajaj will revise it in the coming days.
