There, the actor and his producer, Namit Malhotra, have been promoting their film, holding special previews and engaging in various interviews. In one such conversation, Yash revealed that his portrayal of Ravana in ‘Ramayana’ was born out of his collaboration with producer Malhotra in ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’.

Revealing how his gangster film helped land him a role in the epic two-part saga, he shared with Fandango, “I wanted to take his (Namit Mahotra’s) company’s advice and deliver something big and a great viewing experience for audiences around the world. Then we met and that became Ramayana, but I have to tell you that Namit and DENEG have also been a major part of Toxic”.

Malhotra, who is backing ‘Ramayana’, elaborated on the decision to cast Yash as the antagonist. “Yas is very underrated in how he presents the character he’s played. I think there’s no one better than him to bring that flair and energy to the screen, and that’s what the world is going to see and be really excited about. One of the places where I got really excited was when I was listening to the narrative of the script and what really cemented Ramly’s world and was very interesting was the way Ravan was resolved. That’s what I’d love for people to discover in the film.“He added, “Like I said, everyone knows it and has seen it many times, but the way Ravan and Ranbir play Ram will be a very exciting experience for the whole world.”

Meanwhile, discussing ‘Toxic’, Yash described the film as a global project driven by passion. In a candid interview he shared, “Toxic is a very ambitious project. I think the audience has given me success, not to celebrate and have fun. Maybe I always feel it’s my responsibility to do something better whenever they give me success. In India, people have given me enough love and support, so my idea is to present our stories and industry on a global platform. Most of us are working on it. Toxic is one such example; We have recorded it in English so that people can better understand our stories or communicate easily. It is a high-action film, but very nuanced. It’s not like any other gangster movie, it’s more metaphorical. When you watch the film, you understand much more than what is presented on the surface. “
