Wayne Forest controlled most of the game and gave Carlsen no chance to recover in the end game. Norway eventually resigned after being trapped.“I never thought it would happen. Then all of a sudden I had this moment out of nowhere, and things got out of control,” Van Forest said. “It was an interesting game, and I think he thought so, too. That’s why we discussed it a lot.”Carlsen spoke about how deeply his loss to world champion Gokesh affected him. During Norway Chess 2025, he reacted angrily by slapping the table after a defeat, later admitting defeat and questioning himself.“It was a really painful loss,” Carlson shared during an interview on Pardon My Tech.“Honestly, a part of me, when I hurt (Gokesh) recently, just felt it was so dumb and so unnecessary. It made me feel so washed up and useless that for a few days my only thought was ‘I’m not sure why I’m doing this.’ It’s nice when I win, but it seems kind of routine. Then when I lose, it’s just, you know, for a moment, the world falls apart.”Arjun Erigisi drew his match against Nodirbek Abdusturov and remained undefeated in the tournament. Meanwhile, 14-year-old Yagis Kan Erdogams defeated Nels Grandelis, who suffered his fourth consecutive defeat.
