TMC) leader Jyoti Priya Malik has been removed as secretary of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), the body responsible for conducting higher secondary examinations in the state. He was earlier asked to resign as part of a departmental restructuring exercise, reported IANS, citing an official letter. However, she did not resign from the post after which the council decided to remove her. His name also came up during the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into the alleged Public Distribution System (PDS) scam involving his father Jyoti Priya Malik, who was arrested in 2023. The earlier ED findings had raised questions over alleged earnings of Rs 3.37 crore through private tutoring in one financial year, though these claims are part of ongoing investigations and prosecutions. The state government has reportedly advised him to return to his previous post as an assistant professor at Asutosh College in Kolkata.
