The Daily Mail reported that McClean’s last message was to his manager. Through Jeff Seymour, a close friend and acting coach of the actress, it was reported that she shared a message with her agent about a shoot on May 15th. As reported, it was the last time the actor was seen alive.The report note read that the actor left work on time at 7 that day and returned home. He also added that “he had a very normal day”. After a 4 hour journey, he arrived home that night, [his] the car [was] in the passage The last communication came from his phone that evening, and then everything went dark.”Seymour stated that her friend’s agent spoke about McClean after he failed to show up for a shoot the next day. He added: “When I heard he didn’t show up for that, I knew we were in serious trouble. Because, show business, you know, the show must go on, it’s unheard of for an actor to not show up.”

The acting coach, in the same interview, remembered his dear friend, mentioning that he was a good person. In the same way, he added and spoke that acts like this should never go unpunished and whoever took part in the incident should be brought to justice.He also shared, “Of course I want to find this person, and put this person out because this person has compromised our right to walk among us. As far as I know, there’s nothing that Stew has done in his last life that would even remotely upset him, and I feel like I know him pretty well. He’s a good guy, so I think this person is more of a person to be concerned about.”

On May 18, after three days of not hearing from McClean, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued an official statement asking for the public’s help in locating the “Virgin River” star. After the statement was issued and the search was conducted, authorities released another statement that the missing person case was progressing into a possible homicide investigation.The statement, according to a PEOPLE report, said, “Squamish RCMP began an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that investigators believed Mr. McLean was a homicide victim.” A day later, on May 22, it was announced publicly that the actor’s remains had been recovered from Lions Bay.No details on the cause of his death have been released at this time, as the case is still under investigation.
