VinFast to Launch Green SMEV Taxi Service in India: Ola, Uber Rival Coming!

Vietnam’s Wing Group is all set to enter India’s fast-growing ride-hailing market with its Green SM electric taxi service. It will be officially launched on 05 June 2026 in New Delhi. The move will position GreenSM as a fresh competitor to cab aggregators like Ola and Uber. The company is expected to start operations in the Delhi-NCR region before expanding to other major metropolitan cities. While VinFast has already entered the Indian passenger vehicle market with electric SUVs and a local assembly facility in Tamil Nadu, the brand’s latest move signals a broader mobility strategy for the country. Instead of focusing solely on private buyers, VinFast is now targeting the high-visibility fleet mobility space through Green SM.GreenSM is the electric ride and mobility arm of Vietnam’s Wing Group ecosystem, which also includes One Fast. Internationally, this service is also known as GSM or Green and Smart Mobility. Unlike traditional aggregator-based taxi platforms, the Indian operation is expected to follow a fleet-owned and company-managed model. This means the operator will have tight control over vehicles, drivers, charging infrastructure, service standards and vehicle maintenance. The upcoming taxi service will use VinFast electric vehicles, with reports that the VinFast Limo Green could become the primary model for fleet operations in India. The model has already been spotted on Indian roads. By putting its electric vehicles directly into daily driving tasks, the company can potentially familiarize Indian consumers with its products at a much faster pace.
