Lucknow Supergiants forced a Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders after needing 17 runs in the last over and chasing 156 to level the score in dramatic fashion. Last over, bowled by Karthik Tyagihad it all — two waist-high nine balls, a wicket, and a six off Mohammad Shami’s last ball. LSG needed 17 runs to start the over. On the first ball, Tyagi bowled a slower off-cutter outside off. Shami swung and missed, but wicketkeeper Tim Seifert waved goodbye to the take and kept Himat Singh on strike. The second ball turned the game. Tyagi bowled a waist-high full toss that hit Himat Singh’s bat as he tried to pull. It was called nine balls. The delivery gave LSG a free hit. On the next ball, Tyagi again bowled a waist-high full toss. Courage tried to lift it and was caught by Rowman Powell at long-on, but as it was another no-ball, the out didn’t count. There was confusion over whether Tyagi would be dropped from the attack after bowling two beamers. The KKR dugout, including Abhishek Nair and Dwayne Bravo, discussed changing the bowler, while captain Ajinkya Rahane also spoke to the team. However, the umpires ruled that only the first beamer was dangerous and not the second, so Tyagi was allowed to continue. The free hit was then pulled by Himat Singh at deep backward square leg for four runs. Tyagi responded by dismissing Hemat on the next ball. He bowls a length delivery outside off, and Hamat reverses and tries to clear it away. He didn’t get enough power or time and Rinku Singh completed the catch at deep backward square leg. Himmat scored 19 runs off 10 balls. The next ball brought another bye as Prince Yadav missed a slow short ball and Seifert again failed to collect a clean sweep. Tyagi then bowled a dot ball to Simi, a short-off-length delivery that was bowled out as the batsman missed his slash. This left LSG needing a six off the last ball. Tyagi bowls short and wide outside off, but Shami hits a big shot and sends it for a six to take it into the super over. The reaction said it all — Rinku Singh, Dwayne Bravo and Shane Watson were stunned, while Avish Khan was seen smiling as LSG completed the fightback.
