What happens in ‘The Boys’ season 5, final episode?
Titled ‘Blood and Bone’, the latest episode of ‘The Boys’ saga brings a whirlwind of emotion over the events of the show. One thing to note is that, unlike the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comics that the show was originally inspired by, the live-action show had a completely different ending.The series ended with the inevitable showdown between the Butcher and the Homelander, which was the main aspect that the previous 7 episodes had slowly built up. With Homelander poised to declare himself the second coming of god from the Oval Office, The Boys come up with a plan and officially confront him.Thanks to Kimiko’s powers to strip anyone of their superpowers, the team officially strips Homelander of his power, and Butcher stabs him through the head with a rod. While they celebrate, Butcher tries to talk to Ryan, but the latter refuses, says that he is still a bad person and leaves. The butcher goes home to meet Terror, but finds his dog dead.
He takes the butcher to the edge and decides to use the supe virus
Pushed to the brink of it all, Butcher decides it’s time to use the supes virus, also known as the Godolkin virus. When Vought goes to Tower to find the virus, Hughie realizes what he’s going to do and tries to stop him. For the uninitiated, the virus can kill anyone with Compound V in their system, normal humans would never be affected.Although Hughie tries to talk to him, Butcher denies everything, and the two fight in The Seven conference room. As the Butcher overpowers Hughie and is about to shoot him with the virus, he thinks of his brother, questioning. The moment is long enough for Hughie to finally pull out his gun and shoot Butcher. As he takes his last breath, he thanks Hughie for shooting him and says he would never have stopped, lying in his last moment to save him.
The boys go their separate ways
As the gang officially bury the Bitcher’s body and put an end to the gruesome events, everyone decides to go their separate ways. As MM gets married, Ryan attends the ceremony as her best man. Kimiko, on the other hand, continues to live her life, seeing all the places she and Frenchie always visited before they died. The ending also shows Hughie and Annie having a baby and Starlighter opening a shop that he uses as a front to work as a soup kitchen.The series will officially end after many bloody and gruesome battles. However, many have revealed that the ending of the series is quite different, and in terms of the show and the comic books, less gory and gory than what Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic books depicted. The comic ends with Black Noir killing the Homelander, the Butcher killing Black Noir, Mother’s Milk, Kimiko, and Frenchie, although the part about Hughie ending his own life was picked up in the series, in a less grim way.
