Tesla India today launched the new Tesla Model YL premium electric vehicle in the Indian market. The L stands for Long Wheelbase and it comes with a six-seat configuration with captain’s seats for the middle row. It is also the first Model Y variant in India to be offered with a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. Interested customers can book the vehicle online or by visiting their nearest Tesla dealership, with deliveries expected to begin soon. PriceTalking about the price first, the new Tesla Model YL Premium electric is the new top-of-the-line variant in the Model Y lineup. The new Model Y long-wheelbase variant is priced at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Model Y Premium RWD is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh and Model Y Premium RWD Long Range is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). This model is manufactured at Tesla’s Shanghai plant and is imported into India as a completely built unit (CBU).Design and dimensions In terms of design, the new Tesla Model YL offers a clean and minimal design approach, with a slightly raised stance that enhances its road presence while maintaining the brand’s familiar style. At the front, it features a closed nose in place of the traditional grille, along with neatly integrated LED headlamps. In profile, the longer wheelbase results in more balanced proportions and a more planted look. It also maintains flush-fitting door handles and smooth body surfaces with minimal design lines.A large glass roof spans most of the car, contributing to a more open and premium look. At the rear, the design is understated, with sleek LED taillamps, a subtle boot lip and minimal badging. Dimensionally, the new Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase measures 3,040mm wheelbase, which is 150mm longer than the standard version. Overall length has increased by 179mm to 4,969mm, while width remains unchanged at 1,982mm. Height has increased by 44 mm to 1,668 mm. Ground clearance is 169mm, which is 2mm more than the regular model.
Interior and featuresMoving inside, the car gets a six-seat configuration in a 2+2+2 layout. The long wheelbase variant offers increased rear seat space and improved cabin comfort compared to the standard model, increasing its suitability for family use. In terms of features, these are heated and ventilated seats for both the front and second rows, a heated steering wheel, a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual wireless charging pads, extended lower thigh support for the front seats, and pillar-mounted rear AC vents.

Battery and range Tesla hasn’t revealed detailed specifications like battery size, power and torque figures, but based on the right-hand drive version sold in Australia, the Model YL is expected to use an 85kWh (net) battery, with an estimated 456hp and 590Nm, making it the most powerful Model Y in India. With a 0-100kph time of 5 seconds and a range of 681km, it is also the only variant to offer an all-wheel drive setup. In comparison, the rear-wheel drive model is rated at 500 km, while the long-range version offers up to 661 km.Color options Model YL is offered with six exterior color options and two interior themes, with a stealth gray and a black cabin available as standard. Pearl White Multicoat and Diamond Black cost Rs 95,000 extra, while Glacier Blue costs Rs 1.25 lakh extra. Ultra Red and Cosmic Silver are available at a premium of Rs 1.85 lakh. The Zen Gray interior theme is also optional and is priced at Rs 95,000. The YL model is offered as standard with 19-inch machined 2.0 alloy wheels and is one of the few markets outside of China to get this variant.
