Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Talay Riley has died at the age of 35.According to London’s Metropolitan Police, Riley was stabbed to death in east London. According to the report, he died on June 5 after emergency services were called to a stabbing in the Silvertown area.In a statement released on their official website, the Metropolitan Police said: “At around 9am on Friday 5 June, police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed in Pankhurst Avenue, E16. Officers attended the London Ambulance Service and found a 35-year-old man with a stab wound in the garden of a property near Rayleigh Road.”According to the publication, “despite the efforts of the paramedics, unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene.”Riley, whose birth name was Mark Orabiyi, was known for his work with major artists Usher, Nick Jonas and Dua Lipa. His family paid tribute in a message released by police. The statement read: “Mark was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He brought love, light and joy to our family and to all who knew him. We will always speak of his kindness, beautiful spirit and outstanding talent. His presence touched many lives, and his memory will remain in our hearts forever. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”Detective Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, also expressed her condolences in an appeal for information. In a statement to Deadline, York said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with Mark’s family and friends. Our investigation continues at a rapid pace. I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident to speak to the police. We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have CCTV or other footage from the morning of the incident which may assist our investigation.“The police confirmed that three people were arrested on suspicion of murder. However, a 27-year-old man has since been released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been released without further action.Riley has worked with a number of high-profile artists and won a Grammy Award for writing HER’s ‘Lights On’, a song featured on the singer’s Grammy-winning self-titled debut album released in 2017.The investigation into Riley’s death is ongoing.
