Fast bowlers of Royal Challengers Bangalore Bhuvneshwar Kumar And Josh Hazlewood Tore down Delhi Capitals’ batting order on Monday, leaving them at 13 for 6 in the powerplay in their IPL 2026 clash. This became the lowest power play score in the entire IPL match.Delhi’s top order crumbled under the pressure as both the fast bowlers took three wickets each and gave RCB complete control of the match.
Bhuvneshwar started the damage by yorking the rookie Parkh in the first over.In the next over, Hazlewood removed KL Rahul, who had scored an unbeaten 152 in Delhi’s previous match against Punjab Kings.Hazlewood bowled a hard length ball at 141.4 kmph on the stumps. Rahul tried to handle it but could only manage a top edge, which was safely caught by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. Rahul is out for 1 run.Hazlewood struck again on the very next ball. This time he bowled a full ball outside the batsman late on. Sameer Rizvi went for the drive, edged behind it, and went back for a golden duck.Hazlewood was then on a hat-trick, but Tristan Stubbs stopped him with a leg-side drive. However, Delhi’s problems continued.Just 13 balls into the innings, he had already lost four wickets as Stubbs also departed soon after, leaving one at slip for 5 from 3 balls.Three balls later, Bhuvneshwar struck again by removing DC skipper Akshar Patel. He got an outside edge with late movement, and Delhi were struggling at 5 for 7 in 2.4 overs.Hazlewood then also dismissed Nitish Rana. Bowling from around the stumps, he dragged the left-hander to the body with a short ball. Rana tried to get out of the way but left his bat hanging, and the ball went to Devdutt Padikal at wide slip. With the dismissal of Rana, Delhi scored 8 runs for 6 wickets in the fourth over. His 13 for 6 after six overs broke the previous record for the lowest power play in an entire IPL match. The previous record was 14 for 2 against RCB in Cape Town in 2009 by Rajasthan Royals.Lowest powerplay (1-6 overs) total in IPL
