Eugene Levy said the idea started with Dan Levy. “It all started when Dan came to me with this idea, and his creative touch can be seen throughout the show,” he shared.He added: “At its core, the series is really about a family coming together and learning to be a family again in such close quarters. As a father, my biggest focus on the show is trying to keep my family together through this crisis they’re going through.”Speaking about Catherine O’Hara, Eugene said: “Catherine is a really great actress, and what she brings to her role here comes from the creative position of an actress, not necessarily someone in comedy. She’s also incredibly funny and so versatile and such a chameleon.”Dan Levy described the show as a story of self-discovery. “Schitt’s Creek is a show about a family discovering who they are. It’s a piece of social commentary wrapped in comedy, with characters who all come with the best of intentions,” he said.He also praised O’Hara’s performance as Moira. “Catherine really understood who Moira is and isn’t, and for us, it’s been great to sit back and watch this character come to life in a way we never imagined.
