Rs 75 lakh price-cut on Range Rover SV! Sport SV also benefits from IND-UK FTA

75 lakh rupees price cut on Range Rover SV! The Sport SV also benefits from the IND-UK FTA.

In a move to pass on the benefits of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) directly to buyers, Jaguar Land Rover India has announced a sharp price revision of its flagship Range Rover models imported from the UK as completely built units (CBUs). The biggest highlight is the Rs 7.5 lakh reduction on the Range Rover SV, while the sportier Range Rover Sport SV has also seen a significant reduction.

Range Rover CBU Models Price Drop: Details

The Range Rover SV now starts at Rs 3.50 crore, ex-showroom, down from Rs 4.25 crore, making it Rs 75 lakh cheaper than before. Meanwhile, the Range Rover Sport SV has been priced at Rs 2.35 crore from Rs 2.75 crore, which translates to a reduction of Rs 40 lakh. Updated pricing is effective immediately. The FTA, which was signed last year, is expected to gradually reduce import duties on UK-made cars from 100 percent to 10 percent over a five-year period, significantly benefiting high-end CBUs. This has allowed luxury carmakers like JLR to position their flagship offerings more competitively in the Indian market.

Prices aside, the Range Rover SV gets added value with the addition of SV Ultra Metallic paint options in both gloss and satin as standard. These were previously optional. Under the hood, the Range Rover SV is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine sourced from BMW. The unit produces around 615 hp and 750 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which sends power to all four wheels through an all-wheel drive system.

The Range Rover Sport SV, on the other hand, uses a more performance-focused version of the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It produces up to 635 hp and 750 Nm of torque, which is also mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive setup. It is important to note that the benefits of FTA driven price revisions are limited to UK CBU models only. Locally assembled offerings like Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar and Discovery Sport will continue at their current prices. Additionally, the Defender and Discovery models are not affected, as they are manufactured in Slovakia and are not covered by the India-UK trade agreement.
