Sai Sudharsan vs. Jacob Duffy

One bowler who could challenge him soon is New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy. Duffy has dismissed Sudharsan once in their IPL meetings, and it is one of the strangest dismissals in the history of the tournament. Chasing a huge target of 255, Sudharsan started aggressively, smashing Duffy’s first two balls for boundaries. However, in Duffy’s next over, Sudharsan attempted a cut shot and edged the ball perfectly for four. But in an awkward moment, his bat slipped from his hands, bounced onto the pitch, and bounced back onto the stumps, resulting in a freak hit wicket. With the new ball likely to spin in Ahmedabad, this battle could set the tone for GT’s innings.
Shubman Gul vs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Few bowlers have had as much success against Shubman Gill as Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The veteran swing bowler has dismissed the GT skipper six times in IPL history and has kept him from freezing at the crease consistently. Gill faced Bhuvneshwar in 79 balls and was forced to play 41 dot balls. The latest chapter came in Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala. Bhuvneshwar cleaned up Gayle with a delivery that bounced off the surface before setting him up beautifully. Gayle managed just two runs off seven balls before returning to the pavilion. With a new ball in hand and the final at stake, Bhuvneshwar will once again look to eliminate GTK’s biggest batting threat early.
Jos Buttler vs Josh Hazlewood
The middle-order battle between Jos Buttler and Josh Hazlewood promises to be one of the most exciting contests of the finals. In all international and franchise T20 cricket, Hazlewood dismissed Buttler six times, creating a fierce rivalry between the two world-class players. Their most recent fight took place in Qualifier 1. Chasing 255, Buttler took the attack to Hazlewood, who bowled him for 4, 6 and 4 off the first three balls of an over. But Hazlewood responded brilliantly. The Australian quickly dropped Buttler with a slow knuckleball leg cutter. Attempting another attacking shot, Buttler missed the delivery completely and saw his stumps crumble. If Butler survives Hazlewood, GT’s chances increase significantly. If Hazlewood wins the early battle, RCB can take complete control.
Rajat Patidar vs Kagiso Rabada.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar has scored a brilliant victory against Kagiso Rabada. In their head-to-head meetings, Patidar has scored 56 runs off just 22 balls without the South African speedster getting out even once. The best example came during Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala. Patidar brought Rabada into the stands and scored a brilliant half-century off 21 balls. On the very next ball, Rabada bowled a hard length ball outside the off-stump, but Patidar stayed deep in his crease and easily punched it over extra cover for another six. Rabada has been one of GT’s biggest match-winners this season, but RCB could have a big advantage in the middle overs if Patidar continues to dominate the match.
Virat Kohli vs Mohammad Siraj
Perhaps the most emotional contest of the finals. Former teammates Virat Kohli and Mohammad Siraj will now find themselves on opposite sides in the biggest match of the season. Since Siraj’s move to Gujarat Titans, the two have faced each other in IPL cricket for the first time. Kohli scored a 19-ball 31 against Siraj and importantly, his former teammate never got out. The rivalry has now reached its greatest stage. Experts believe that this competition can have a direct impact on the outcome. If Siraj gets an early move inside the powerplay and breaches Kohli’s defence, GT can take immediate control of the match.
However, if Kohli survives the new ball and settles down, history suggests that RCB become an incredibly difficult side to stop. In a star-studded finale, these five individual battles could ultimately decide who lifts the IPL 2026 trophy in Ahmedabad.
