Ranvir Shorey was quick to respond, sharing his perspective on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “You wouldn’t believe how often producers cancel/postpone projects unilaterally without mentioning compensation for losses to an actor.”

The post sparked a debate online, with one user pushing back and arguing that producers face bigger losses when actors walk out, adding, “The number of producers who take an actor for granted is far less than the number of actors who take a producer for granted (in Bollywood). He replied, “You’re not talking about the actors. Those are the ‘stars’!”

The guild made it clear in its official statement that this behavior threatens the financial and reputational health of the entire industry.“No industry member should tolerate such behavior in these cases, which has resulted in significant financial losses for our producer members, as well as other industry verticals. Such actions by any industry member have serious and far-reaching consequences and undermine the spirit of trust, professionalism and mutual respect that the film industry is built on.”The body also highlighted the collateral damage caused to the crew: “These instances have caused significant reputational damage, have had a detrimental impact on the credibility and brand value of the films involved, and have endangered the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians and crews who depend on these projects.”The guild concluded with a call for resolution: “We urge all parties to resolve their disputes amicably, and we will endeavor to protect the interests of the guild.”

The guild revealed that it had received formal complaints from its members, Excel Entertainment Private Limited and Panorama Studios International Limited, about the issues that arose days before the commencement of principal photography.
