A parliamentary panel has summoned senior union officials. Ministry of Educationthe National Testing Agency (NTA) and CBI are scheduled to appear before it on Friday on the assurances given by the testing agency regarding the conduct of examinations.According to a notice issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat on Wednesday, the committee on government assurances will hear the views of Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh and CBI Director Parveen Sood. The meeting is scheduled for 11 am on Friday.The matter relates to an assurance given in Rajya Sabha on 27 November 2024 in response to an unstarred question on “Conduct of Examination by NTA”.In its written reply to the query in November 2024, the education ministry had said that the CBI is conducting a comprehensive investigation into all aspects of the alleged irregularities, including conspiracy, cheating, breach of trust etc. And filed five charge sheets against 45 accused till 22 November 2024.This year’s NEET-UG exam for medical admissions was held on May 3 but was canceled by NTA on May 12 following allegations of paper leak. The matter is currently under investigation by the CBI and a re-test has been scheduled on June 21.The parliamentary panel will also hear the views of Union Health Secretary Panya Salila Srivastava, National Medical Commission Chairman Abhijit Chandrakant Sheth and CBI Director on another assurance related to the “medical college scam”.In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha in July 2025, the health ministry said the CBI has registered an FIR in New Delhi under the Indian Civil Protection Act and the Prevention of Corruption Act for alleged irregularities involving fake faculty, fake examinations and fake patient records.
