Moushumi Chatterjee talks about her long absence from work
In an interview with Mid-day, the actor said, “Who said I’m going to retire? Not only am I fit enough to work, but I’m selective. If it’s my price, meets the terms and conditions, is interesting and comes with high standards, I’m very open. Please don’t take anyone’s word for it. Therefore, there was a long gap for some years. Although I’ve never been very busy, now I’m very picky about what I do. When Payal passed away I couldn’t work for three or four years.’
Moushumi Chatterjee on the kind of roles she wants to do
Chatterjee says that work has always found its way and he has never had to go looking for it. “I have never visited anyone’s office and asked for a job. God has not been kind, but parted with me,” he said. While she’s grateful for everything that comes her way, she admits that she misses seeing herself on screen and is looking forward to returning to a role with real substance. “I can’t do any role as a mother says, ‘Beta aa jao, khana khaa lo.’ I would like to do a role that has at least one or two good scenes and suits my age.” Taking it a step further, Chatterjee expressed his desire to experiment and take on a challenging gray character. “It would be a challenge for me, but there has to be substance in the role. Actors are like water, they’ll take whatever shape you put them in,” he reflected.
