MG Motor India has announced that production of the new MG Majestor SUV has commenced at the company’s Halol plant in Gujarat. Bookings for the SUV are already open, interested customers can book the new Majestor online or at their nearest MG dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 41,000. The first 3,000 customers who pre-book the Magister will get a complimentary package that includes a five-year unlimited kilometer warranty, five years of roadside assistance and a five-year labor-free service contract.Once launched, the new Majestor will compete with the Toyota Fortuner Legender and is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will be offered in three variants, with both six- and seven-seat configurations available. The three variants include the entry-level Sharp 4×2, the mid-spec Savvy 4×2 and the range-topping Savvy 4×4. In terms of design, it has a large matrix-style grille, with Falcon-inspired daytime running lights and modern split headlamps at the front. The side profile accentuates its premium stance with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rear is marked by new integrated LED taillights and a sculpted tailgate with ‘Morris Garages’ and ‘Magister’ badging. Other highlights include false twin exhaust tips, a skid plate, an integrated spoiler, rear wiper with washer and more.

Color options include monochromatic shades like metal black, pearl white, concrete gray and metal ash. As mentioned earlier, the new Magister is offered in both six- and seven-seat layout options. The six-seater gets individual captain’s seats in the second row, while there’s a conventional seven-seater bench. The dashboard has been completely redesigned with piano black trim and silver accents that provide a modern feel. In terms of features, it gets 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, 12.3-inch digital driver display, MG’s i-Smart 2.0 connected car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12-speaker JBL sound system, electrically adjustable front seats, three-mat control with multiple automatic cool zones and heat mat control. Rear row vents, dual wireless charging pads, a panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, 64-color ambient lighting, gesture-operated tailgate and more.Safety equipment includes Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning with prevention and blind spot monitoring. Standard safety features also include electronic stability control, hill hold and hill descent control, ISOFIX mounts, a surround view camera system and six airbags.Talking about the engine, it is offered in a single 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel with 215 hp of power, mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV gets a 4×4 system with an all-terrain management software that MG calls M-Hub, which offers up to 10 selectable terrains and drive modes. It also gets a crawl mode called the M-Crawl function, and three differential locks. It also has a maximum water wading capacity of 810 mm for an SUV.
