Mercedes-Benz India recently launched the new Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric in the Indian market, priced at Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the new CLA EV is now the most affordable Mercedes-Benz you can buy in the Indian market. Pre-booking for the EV is underway. Interested customers can book online or visit their nearest dealership. Mercedes says it has already received more than 400 bookings. Mercedes-Benz CLA vs BYD Sale: Price, VariantsThe new Mercedes-Benz CLA is available in three variants: the CLA 200 Standard Range Progressive Line, priced at Rs 55 lakh, and the CLA 250+ Long Range AMG Line, priced at Rs 59 lakh. There is also the CLA 250+ Long Range Launch Edition, which will be offered in limited numbers and is priced at Rs 64 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).The BYD Seal is also offered in three variants – Dynamic priced at Rs 41 lakh, Premium priced at Rs 45.7 lakh and Premium Performance priced at Rs 53.15 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The overall price of the CLA ranges from Rs 55 lakh to Rs 64 lakh. In comparison, the BYD Cell is priced between Rs 41 lakh and Rs 53.15 lakh, making it the more affordable option in the variant, while the CLA is at a more premium level.
Mercedes-Benz CLA vs BYD Cell: DimensionsComparing front dimensions, the Sail measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. The new Mercedes-Benz CLA measures 4,723 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,468 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm. The BYD Cell is 77mm longer, 20mm wider and has a 130mm longer wheelbase, while the Mercedes-Benz CLA is 8mm longer.Mercedes-Benz CLA vs BYD Sale: Battery, Range The CLA Electric gets two battery pack options – an 85kWh NMC battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor, which produces 272hp and 335Nm, and a claimed 0-100kph time of 6.7 seconds. It has a claimed WLTP range of up to 792 km, and has a two-speed gearbox. The other option is a 58kWh battery with a claimed WLTP range of up to 542km. It is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 224hp and 335Nm, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 7.5 seconds. The CLA EV supports up to 320kW fast charging through its 800V architecture, enabling a 300km range top-up in 10 minutes. Mercedes has also increased the ground clearance and revised the suspension for Indian conditions.Talking about the Seal EV, it is offered with two battery pack options – a 61.4 kWh LFP blade battery paired with a single 204 hp electric motor that sends power to the rear wheels. The EV offers a claimed range of up to 510 km on a full charge. Another battery pack is a larger 82.5 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor that delivers 313 hp of power. The motor sends power to the rear wheels and a claimed range of 650 km on a full charge. The top-of-the-line AWD Performance variant is powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack with dual motors that send power to all four wheels.
