Madhuri Dixit She left her fans upset when she suddenly relocated to Denver and quit Bollywood at the peak of her career after marrying US-based Dr. Shriram Nene in 1999. In the following years, the couple welcomed their two sons, Arin and Ryan, before finally deciding to move back to Mumbai in 2011.In the meantime to Madhu A career in film, television and entertainment continued seamlessly, adjusting to life in India again was another journey for Dr. Nene, who spent most of her life in the US. Madhuri reflected on her husband’s connection to India. “Since he was a child, he used to come to India to meet his grandparents,” he recalled. “But once you move to higher education, it becomes very difficult to visit. It was a big gap not to come to India,” he said in an interview with Screen. However, he revealed that it didn’t take him long to embrace his new surroundings wholeheartedly. From understanding the local culture to building a second career as a digital health entrepreneur and content creator, Nene fully immersed herself in life in India.“He’s amazing. Wherever he goes, he’s immersed in the culture. He knows everything. That’s what he did when we came back to India. He was completely immersed,” Madhuri said. He added: “He loves India. He loves being here. He loves the people. As you saw in his episode. Instagrameverything is enthusiastic. He is a doctor, but he is also a technician. He likes travelling, cooking and things like that.’Madhuri also revealed an unexpected side of her husband: his fascination with cameras and technology. Laughing, he said, “He knows everything about cameras. When photographers come to his house to click pictures, he would ask them, ‘Kaun sa lens hai? Have you tried it?’ I don’t know much about cameras either, but he does.”Beyond medicine and technology, Nene also ventured into film production with Madhuri. Reflecting on her personal life, Madhuri admitted that marriage brought back the long-lost balance she was constantly moving between movie sets at the peak of her career.“A lot of people ask me, ‘What’s life like after marriage?’ Before I got married, I was only working. My life started after marriage. That’s when I really lived. I am very happy that I found him as my life partner, and we have a wonderful life together,” she said with a smile. In an earlier video shared on her YouTube channel, Dr. Nene spoke candidly about the challenges of leaving behind a prestigious medical career in the United States. He revealed that his parents initially struggled to understand the decision. “My parents were definitely not happy that I left the prototypical job of a heart surgeon, the kind of dream life of every Indian. A perfect situation, with lots of friends and being the head of the hospital. But later, when they saw my work with startups, they really wanted to invest in them,” he said.Nene also explained what motivated her to move away from clinical practice and focus on health technology.“I could operate on at most three or five patients in a day, and maybe 500 patients a year. It was incredibly rewarding to see patients leave the hospital healthy and to protect their families, but when I looked at the world, I thought: there are billions of people. What would happen if health care could reach the last mile through media and technology and you could all include a doctor?” he added.Earlier this year, Madhuri revealed that family responsibilities also played a major role in her decision to relocate. Ranveer said on Allahbadia’s podcast, “My parents were getting old, and they wanted to come back to India. They had been with me throughout my life and career, and I didn’t want to leave them alone.”
