Delhi Capitals KL Rahul has lowered his latest personal milestone after beating MS. Dhoni in the IPL’s all-time run-scorers list, insisting that the team’s success is his ultimate goal.Speaking on JioStar’s ‘Superstars’, Rahul admitted that he was unaware of the success earlier and clarified what really meant to him.“I didn’t even realize I had passed Mahi Bhai. IPL’s all-time run-scorers list,” said Rahul.“Honestly, the milestone I would love to match with MS Dhoni is the five IPL trophies he has won with CSK.”Rahul emphasized that while individual numbers are beneficial, they are not his primary focus.“When you have a long career, personal achievements feel special,” he said. They tell you that your hard work and sacrifices have paid off.“But at the end of the day, cricket is a team game. You want to win trophies. You want to be part of successful teams. That has always been my aim.”He reiterated his commitment to deliver every season, regardless of the franchise he represents.“Every season, I try my best to win the IPL, no matter which team I play for, that’s the most important thing for me,” added Rahul.“Personal milestones are good. They give me confidence that I am on the right track. But what will really make me happy is to win as many trophies as MS Dhoni has.”Rahul’s comments came as he moved past Dhoni’s record of 5,528 runs to become the fifth-highest run-scorer in IPL history. He now has 5,579 runs in 152 matches and 143 innings, at an average of 46.88 at a strike rate of 138.37, with six centuries and 42 fifties. The 2026 season has seen Rahul in superb form. He has scored 433 runs in nine matches at an average of 54.13 and an impressive strike rate of 185.84.His campaign has also been filled with record-breaking performances. Rahul became only the third cricketer in IPL history to register a score of over 150, while also becoming the highest individual score by an Indian in the tournament. He scored the fastest ever Delhi Capitals century and now holds the franchise record for the highest individual score.Despite Rahul’s impressive performances, Delhi Capitals have struggled for consistency. The team is currently sixth in the points table with just four wins from nine matches. The message for Rahul is clear. Personal milestones keep coming, but winning trophies is what defines success.
