‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ has officially locked in a global IMAX release date of December 17, 2027. The Marvel superhero film, which serves as a follow-up to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, is now officially set for a big-screen release, according to an announcement made by IMAX Corporation during an earnings call.

The move comes after the December 2026 release of “Doomsday” missed out on IMAX screens with “Dune: Part Three.” According to reports, director Denis Villeneuve has secured an IMAX exclusive, including 70mm, for its December 18, 2026 opening window. The deal gives Dune an exclusive three-week run of all IMAX screens in the U.S. for its debut, guaranteeing a premium format advantage. Tickets for select 70mm screenings sold out quickly.

‘Avengers’ has clashed with ‘Lord of the Rings’
