Bhuvneshwar Kumar Sunrisers Hyderabad found themselves on the wrong side of IPL history on Friday after enduring a nightmare against Hyderabad. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s veteran fast bowler scored 50-plus runs in an IPL innings for the ninth time in his career, equaling Mohammad Shami’s unwanted all-time record. Despite being one of the most respected bowlers in IPL history and currently the leading wicket-taker of IPL 2026, Bhuvneshwar had no answer against SRH’s fearless batting approach on the flat Hyderabad surface.

The carnage started in the powerplay itself when Abhishek Sharma launched a spectacular attack on his former SRH teammate. Abhishek scored 56 runs off just 22 balls, denying Bhuvneshwar repeated flicks and highs on the leg side. RCB’s woes deepened. Ishan Kishan He scored a composed but aggressive 79 off 44 balls, exposing the bowling side’s frequent mistakes in line and length. However, the most devastating phase came when Heinrich Klaasen stepped in and completely decimated the veteran attack. Klaasen smashed a brutal 51 off just 24 balls and ripped Josh Hazlewood for 27 in a single over, effectively scuppering RCB skipper Rajat Patidar’s plans. Bhuvneshwar was not the only bowler to suffer a heavy loss. Hazlewood and Rasukh Salam Dar also leaked more than 50 runs, making it one of RCB’s worst collective bowling performances of the season. SRH eventually scored 255 runs for the loss of 4 wickets with the help of 20 fours and 16 sixes. The innings further cemented Hyderabad’s reputation as the most explosive batting side of IPL 2026 while severely exposing RCB’s bowling attack ahead of the playoffs.
