German influencer Lizlaz has finally broken her silence on the viral controversy surrounding the cricketer. Virat Kohli supposedly he likes a photo of her on Instagram. In a recent interaction, the actor described the whole experience as “unreal” and compared it to being inside an episode of Black Mirror.
‘Suddenly podcasts and magazines were talking about me’
Remembering how he heard about the incident, Lizlaz said that at first he didn’t notice it either. “I found out because people started calling me. I didn’t even see it in my notifications,” he told Filmymantra.The actor revealed that within hours his social media was flooded with messages, while podcasts, magazines and online discussions revolved around his name. “I opened Google and there were pages and pages about me. It felt so unreal,” he added.Interestingly, the conversation about the Lizlaz controversy was very different in Germany. “People in India used to ask, ‘Who is Lizlaz?’ But in Germany, the headlines were asking: ‘Who is Virat Kohli?’ because cricket is not very popular there,” he joked.
“Virat Kohli did nothing wrong”
Defending Virat amid the online discourse, Lizlaz was adamant that the cricketer had no ill intentions. “I don’t think he wanted that media coverage. It was kind of like that. He didn’t do anything inappropriate,” he said.Calling Virat Kohli the “Messi or Ronaldo of Asia”, the influencer asked people not to tarnish his image due to social media speculation. He added that he always admits that he posts travel content related to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and often India, which is perhaps why Virat came across his profile.Lizlaz also made a shocking revelation during the interview that some journalists allegedly offered him money to make negative statements about cricket. “Some people wanted me to throw shade and say things he never did. But why would I do that? He is my favorite cricketer,” he said.
The controversy led to reality shows and brand deals
While the controversy sparked intense online attention, it also opened unexpected professional doors for the influencer. Lizlaz shared that almost overnight she started receiving offers for reality shows, brand collaborations and entertainment projects.He also had the chance to host an ICC cricket match between Germany and Austria. Speaking about the experience, he said: “I absolutely loved it. I did the post-match moderation, player interviews and the trophy ceremony. It was amazing to be a part of the game.”
“I will not promote things that are against my values”
The operator also revealed that it had been approached by several brands after the controversy, including offers related to online casinos. However, he chose to accept products that did not align with his personal beliefs.“They offered me enormous sums of money, but I don’t want to promote something that goes against my values,” he explains, and now chooses collaborations carefully rather than entering projects.
Lizlaz says she is open to Bollywood
Currently in Mumbai, Lizlaz revealed that music remains her main focus, although she would like to explore acting opportunities in India.“If I get a good Bollywood role, I will study Hindi for it every day,” he laughed, adding that he watched two Bollywood films on the flight to Mumbai.Summarizing the entire experience, the influencer admitted that waking up to seeing trends across platforms was overwhelming. “It was all about me all of a sudden. It honestly didn’t feel real,” she said.
