New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Perful Hinge turned his vision into reality in spectacular fashion, returning figures of 4/34 in a historic IPL performance against Rajasthan Royals on Monday. His spell helped Sunrisers Hyderabad register a resounding 57-run victory over Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.“I wrote somewhere that I can take four or five wickets on debut,” Heng said after winning his Player of the Match award on debut. After Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth 216/6 thanks to skipper Ishan Kishan’s 44-ball 91, Hinj set the tone with a powerful opening burst that ended the chase almost immediately. Three wickets in their first over effectively dashed the table-toppers’ hopes of chasing down 217 before the innings was even over.Hinge ended with a brilliant opening spell of 2-0-6-4, shattering RR’s in-form top order and guiding SRH to their first defeat for the visitors in five matches.“I had written somewhere that I would take 4-5 wickets on my debut. I would have thought of dominating the powerplay. I believe in that (phenomenon),” Heng told the broadcaster after the match.“At the age of 13, I started playing cricket. I didn’t know what leather-ball cricket was. Asked my father to join a club. But he said I was too young. Then he took me there, and I kept playing after that. I want to dedicate this award to my family.”Heng also revealed that he planned to get RR opener Vibhu Suryavanshi off the bouncer.“I told people I’m going to throw a bouncer at him and get him out. I just wanted to get him out. Varun bhai (our bowling coach) helped me plan it, so thank you,” he said.Henge’s four-wicket haul was complemented by another impressive debut from pacer Saqib Hussain, who returned figures of 4/24.“Every player hopes for a debut like this, so it feels really good. I am very happy. The (SRH) bowling coach informed me a day before the game that I would play. Since then, I was only focused on doing well. Mentally, I prepared myself to give my best,” Hussain said.He added, “Varun (Aaron) Bhai has been working with me for the last four years. Any improvement you see in my bowling is because of him. I give him full credit. It felt amazing. A performance like this in my debut match is very special.”SRH captain Ishan Kishan praised the intent of his young pace duo, Henge and Hussain, and highlighted their hunger and preparation throughout the season.“You also have to see how hungry your young bowlers are, how motivated they feel and you know how hungry they are to play these games and I think they’ve been working out all season,” he said.“He was working with the fielding, our bowling coach Varun Aaron and he was just trying to give his best, talking to all the experienced players. He did especially well in the practice matches too, so I think it was the right move today,” Kishan added.Kishan also spoke about the challenges of captaincy as a wicketkeeper.“As a captain, I felt, you know, there was some miscommunication going on. You’re not able to communicate with your bowlers what the plan is. So it is better to be there, talk to them about what they are going to bowl so that we can feel, set the field accordingly,” he said.Rajasthan Royals captain Ryan Prag admitted that he had little exposure to SRH’s new ball pairing before.Prag said, “I haven’t seen much of him in domestic cricket. I think I played Sakib once, with Bihar vs Assam. But he bowled beautifully. Given the pressure of the home crowd cheering him on and chanting his name, the way he bowled in the first four or five overs was really impressive.”Parag also reflected on his side’s decision on the toss.“We lost back-to-back wickets, thanks to their bowling. Maybe there were some misjudgments from our side as well, but we will take it as a blip and not think too much about it,” he said.“I felt it was probably better to bowl the second ball, maybe because we lost wickets early. It was a bit stickier than the new ball while it had a bit of sparkle to it.“Bowl wise, we could have bowled second, but there are many things we could have done better,” he added.
