Scarlett Moffatt has been kicked out of ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’, a day before the series finale. The ‘Gogglebox’ star, who was crowned queen of the jungle in the original 2016 series, came last in a crucial test and was sent home as the last girl standing in the competition.“I felt like I was so close. I was the last girl standing,” she told hosts Ant and Dec on her way out.

The challenge required the celebrities to count colored balls as they were rolled down a tube while drenching maggots, cockroaches, crickets and mealworms. The five contestants were then asked how many blue balls there were, whose tally was the farthest from the correct figure heading into the elimination round. Moffatt’s answer was the most accurate, ending his career in the competition.Thursday night’s episode also saw the celebs take part in the Cyclone challenge, where they had to go up a water slide to reach the stars, while being tossed around with huge balls and doused with high-pressure hoses. The team won the task, and as a result, everyone received phone messages from their loved ones back home. They also enjoyed a breakfast of 10 eggs between them, after successfully catching them from a large “hen” perched in a tree above the camp.

Reflecting on his time in camp, Moffatt admitted the South African spin-off was more of a challenge than his triumphant 2016 season. “Just judgments. Who creates these? They’re sick,” he said with characteristic humor. Asked why he came back, he said, “This show honestly means everything to us.”Despite the difficulty, he added, “I really had a great time.” Asked about her camp mates, she said: “We’re all mad as a box of frogs, aren’t we? I think everyone’s wonderful.”When asked who he would like to win, he was clear. “Please, Mo. He’s just the most wonderful human being. There’s not a bad bone in his body.”He also took a moment to directly address hosts Ant and Dec. “I just want to grow up, I saw both of them on SMTV Live, and hearing your accent made me feel like, if I wanted to do it, then I could do it, because of you. It means a lot.”
