Rzeznik sat down with PEOPLE at this year’s American Music Awards to look back at some of the most memorable moments from his career. This also included his collaboration with the ‘Opalite’ singer in 2011, when the two performed together on his ‘Speak Now’ tour.At the time, the ‘Slide’ singer revealed that he saw something in Swift the moment he began to admire her. Adding more context, she stated, “What surprised me was that she was still very young at the time, and I expected a bunch of managers to treat me as a guest, but she did. I remember thinking, ‘This woman has her s— together.'” At the time, Swift was just 21 years old.
John Rzeznik’s song ‘Iris’ became even more popular after Taylor Swift’s concert
According to the singer, the song by the Goo Goo Dolls, ‘Iris’ was released in connection with the movie, City of Angels’, however, even after the movie ‘faded’, the song continued to circulate, becoming one of their most popular tunes. A few years later, he and Swift shared the stage on her tour and performed a cover of ‘Iris’ together.Speaking about the impact of the song and performing it with Swift, “I think it connected more after that. And then I got to sing it with Taylor Swift, and all these other people started covering it.”During the interview, she was asked if she would consider attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding ceremony. The singer congratulated the couple, then went on to say that if he approached her about the matter, she would love to do it.
