Pitt and Jolie married at Château Miraval in France, but filed for divorce two years later in 2016. Although they were declared legally unmarried in 2019, custody issues remained unresolved for years.
Jolie alleged in court documents that Pitt physically and verbally abused her and their children on a private flight, which she said caused permanent trauma. Pitt has consistently denied the allegations.
Jolie was initially awarded primary custody, Pitt received temporary visitation rights in 2016 and then temporary joint custody in 2021. However, that judgment was reversed. Today, all of their children are adults or nearing adulthood, and traditional custody arrangements are irrelevant.
