The statement represents a significant shift in the industry’s collective attitude to professional responsibility.

The statement makes it clear that the Producers Guild of India has received official complaints from its members, placing the matter in the domain of industry governance.The statement read: “There have been increasing cases of talent, directors and technicians reneging on commitments to producers, often at the eleventh hour. We, the Producers Guild of India, have also received formal complaints from our members, Excel Entertainment Private Limited and Panorama Studios International Limited about these issues, days before the commencement of principal photography,” the statement read.
The guild warned of serious consequences
The guild was tight-lipped about the impact this behavior has on the wider film ecosystem, particularly the crew and technicians who depend on these projects for their livelihoods.The statement further said: “The actions of any industry member have serious and far-reaching consequences and undermine the spirit of trust, professionalism and mutual respect on which the film industry is built. These instances have caused significant reputational damage, adversely impacted the credibility and brand value of films, and jeopardized the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians and crew members who depend on these projects.“
The guild calls for an amicable resolution
Although it strongly protected producers, the Guild also distanced itself from disruptive or coercive measures, drawing a clear line on how conflicts should be handled. He also added: “We also want to say without a doubt that the Guild always favors a free and fair business environment without encouraging any burden or interruption in the content production process. The opposite attitude is unethical and damages the spirit of cooperation of our filmmaking community. We urge all parties to resolve their disputes amicably, and we will endeavor to protect the interests of the brotherhood.”
