In the 58th match of the tournament, Mumbai Indians were led by Jasprit Bumrah, who stepped in as captain along with Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. Bumrah won the toss and elected to field first.
Punjab Kings openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhasmaran Singh put on a 50-run partnership before Chahar got the breakthrough in the final over of the powerplay.
On the second ball of the over, Chahar bowled a quick in-swing yorker from around the wicket. The ball accelerated towards the leg stump and almost hit it. Priyansh is beaten and moves his leg, and the ball goes for a four bye.
On the next ball, Chahar kept the same action and set-up but changed pace, bowled a slower nose ball. Priyansh expected another quick innings and went for a high drive. He played early, and the ball went through to hit the leg-stump.
The celebration said it all as Deepak Chahar knew that the previous ball had already set the batsman up.
In the match, Prabhasmaran Singh scored a fluent half-century, before Shardul Thakur’s four-wicket burst ended in dramatic fashion, but a strong late surge helped Punjab Kings reach 200 for 8 against Mumbai Indians.
Asked to bat first after facing four consecutive defeats, PBKS started an attacking 33-ball 50 between Priyansh Arya (27) and Prabhasmaran (57).
