Chinmay Mandlekar believes that AI should not be allowed to be the boss
While talking to us, he said, “So far, from what I’ve seen in ChatGPT, it can be a good helper. But we have to be very conscious that we don’t let it be our boss.” He then added, “You can use ChatGPT to lighten your workload, if you mean you can log into ChatGPT.” (But sometimes people don’t use their brains when it comes to ChatGPT.) Chinmay Mandlekar draws the difference between the human brain and AI
“What the human brain can think and what the human brain can create can be out of the box. ChatGPT will only create what it knows,” he pointed out, drawing a clear line of separation. He believes that people need to understand that AI “can be a great assistant.” Drawing an anecdote from his personal experience, he continued: “I have tried to use it for my own writing purposes. It cannot create, but it can process very well and give a good draft, perhaps. But creation continues with humans so far.” “It all depends on how you use the technology. Atomic energy is a wonderful thing, whether you light up cities or bomb cities. Same with AI,” he concluded.
