JEE Advanced 2026 Total Exam: Check Dress Code, Items to Carry, Important Exam Day Guidelines
JEE Advanced 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 on Sunday, May 17 at centers across the country. The exam will be conducted in two shifts and candidates are advised to strictly follow the exam day guidelines issued by the authorities.Candidates appearing for the examination should carry a printed copy of the JEE Advanced 2026 Admit Card, a valid original photo ID proof and two passport size photographs to the examination centre. Entry to the examination hall will not be allowed without these documents.The admit card was released on May 11 and contains important details like candidate’s name, roll number, photograph, signature, exam center address, reporting time and exam day instructions. Candidates can download the admit card through official website jeeadv.ac.in till 17 May 2026, 2:30 PM.
JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Timings
The examination will be conducted in two papers:
- Paper 1: 9 AM to 12 PM
- Paper 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
PwD candidates will be paid one hour. The question paper will be available in both English and Hindi languages and candidates will be able to switch between languages during the exam.According to the marking scheme, candidates will get four marks for each correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
JEE Advanced 2026: To carry documents and goods
Candidates are advised to reach the examination center before the gate closing time to avoid delay during phrasing and biometric verification.The following items will be allowed inside the examination hall.
- Printed copy of JEE Advanced 2026 Admit Card
- Original photo ID card
- Two passport size photographs
- Pen and pencil
- Transparent water bottle
JEE Advanced 2026: Items are prohibited inside the examination hall.
Electronic gadgets and many personal items will not be allowed inside the examination centre. Prohibited items include:
- Mobile phones
- Smart watches and clocks
- Bluetooth devices
- Earphones and microphones
- Pagers and health bands
- Calculators and electronic pens
- Pen drives and scanners
- Wallets and handbags
- Cameras and glasses.
- Written notes or printed papers
- Log table and writing pad
- Geometry boxes, scales and erasers
- Pencil boxes and pouches
- Any such electronic or communication device
JEE Advanced 2026 Dress Code
Candidates are also advised to follow the prescribed dress code. IIT Roorkee has instructed students not to wear jewelery or metal objects such as rings, bracelets, chains, pendants, earrings, nose pins, badges or brooches.Candidates should avoid clothes with big buttons and are advised to wear open shoes like sandals or slippers. The authorities have also asked the students not to wear charms and amulets inside the examination hall.Candidates are advised to check their reporting time and examination center details mentioned on the admit card carefully and make travel arrangements accordingly, especially those appearing for the examination outside their hometown.
