CBSE reveals technical glitch in post-12th result process, announces refund for wrongful fee deductions
CBSE has issued an explanation when fees were incorrectly deducted during applications for scanned answer sheets of Class XII due to technical issues. Students with excess charges will get automatic refunds, while students with lower deductions will be notified separately, the board said. He also confirmed that affected candidates will receive scanned copies without submitting fresh applications.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important clarification regarding the post-processing of Class XII results after technical issues were reported during requests for scanned copies of answer sheets for the examination cycle 2021-22.According to the official notice dated May 24, 2026, a number of students faced wrong fee deductions while applying for scanned copies of their examined answer books. In some cases, excess amount was charged, while in others, less amount was deducted due to system errors.

Refunds will be processed for overpayments.

CBSE has confirmed that students who were overcharged will get a refund. The excess amount will be refunded through the same payment method used at the time of application. The Board has assured that no separate action will be required from the students to claim these refunds.

Adjustments for short payments

In cases where less than required payment was made, CBSE said candidates will be informed separately. They can be asked to pay the remaining balance if required. However, the Board has not announced any immediate action on behalf of the students in such cases unless specifically discussed.

Scanned copies will be issued without fresh applications.

The board has also clarified that students affected by these discrepancies will still receive scanned copies of their examined answer books. Importantly, they will not need to submit new applications for the same.

CBSE assured of corrective measures

The notice issued by the Controller of Examinations Dr. Sunim Bhardwaj said that all affected stakeholders should take note of the update. CBSE has indicated that corrective measures are being taken to ensure smooth handling of post-result services going forward. The development has come as part of the ongoing process after the CBSE results, where students usually apply for answer sheet copies and revaluation services after the board declares its results.
