The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a clarification on social media platforms after a fake circular claiming to cancel the photocopying and re-examination process of the 2026 exams.The board said that the notice being shared online is completely fictitious and not issued by CBSE. Students, parents and schools are advised not to believe or forward such misleading information without verification.
The fake notice claimed that the re-evaluation process had been cancelled.
The viral circular falsely claimed that CBSE had canceled the ongoing process of obtaining photocopies of answer books and re-examination due to “technical challenges”. It added that the original marks of the students will be treated as final and the fees collected for revaluation and photocopy applications will be refunded.However, CBSE has now officially rejected these claims and termed the circular as “FAKE NEWS ALERT”. The board clarified that no such decision has been taken regarding re-evaluation or photocopy facility for students appearing for the 2026 examinations.
CBSE requests students to verify information from official sources.
In its official message, CBSE warned students and parents not to rely on rumors and unverified posts circulating online. The board urged the public to check all the announcements related to the exam only through the official CBSE platform.CBSE further clarified that all genuine notifications and circulars have to be verified through the official website of CBSE.He also stressed that such fake content should not be shared by any student, as these fake notes cause panic among students, especially when they appear for their board exams.
Increasing incidence of fake notices related to exams
As mentioned earlier, this is yet another case of fake notifications circulating through social media regarding exams conducted by CBSE. Education boards across India have repeatedly issued warnings to students and asked them not to blindly believe any news or information circulating on various online sources regarding admission forms, results, revaluation and other exam details.
