The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has today officially declared the results of the 10th class board exams on April 15, 2026. The result has a pass percentage of 93.70%. This will reflect the consistent academic performance across India and CBSE affiliated schools abroad. The overall pass percentage of 93.70 percent reflects a slight upward movement compared to 93.66 percent in 2025, indicating a steady academic trend with incremental improvement. Education authorities attributed this consistency to competency-based assessment reforms and the rationalization of the curriculum under the pedagogic framework linked to the NEP.This year the Class 10 exams were conducted under a significantly expanded framework, covering 27,339 schools across India and 27 countries. A total of 24,71,777 students appeared for the exam, with over 1.63 crore answer sheets being checked in record time. The initial announcement is about a month ahead of the usual mid-May schedule, the board said in a press release. Made possible by massive digitization and a streamlined assessment process involving nearly 7 lakh assessors.

Regional Performance: South Zone dominates
Region-wise performance data shows that southern CBSE regions continue to dominate, with Trivandrum and Vijayawada jointly recording the highest pass percentage at 99.79 per cent, followed by Chennai at 99.58 per cent. The data reinforces a long-standing trend in CBSE results, where southern regions consistently outperform the national average, often crossing the 99 percent mark due to strong school infrastructure and academic consistency. With over 84 subjects offered at the Class 10 level, CBSE operates one of the most comprehensive school examination systems globally. Officials stressed that the 2026 cycle reflects both scale and reform, balancing higher contributions with the evolution of assessment methods under the NEP.As the board moves to a two-exam structure, the 2026 results mark an important stage in India’s school examination reform journey, combining mass assessment with efforts to reduce pressure and increase flexibility for students across the system.
