The BMW F 450 GS has finally made its debut in India, entering one of the most competitive segments in the market. As BMW’s most affordable adventure motorcycle, it competes against the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure S. Starting with the engine, the BMW stands out for being the only motorcycle here to use a parallel twin setup. It has a 420cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.
The Himalayan 450, on the other hand, gets a larger 452cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivers 40 hp at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The KTM 390 Adventure S is mid-powered with a 398 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that produces 46 hp at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm at 6,500 rpm. All the three motorcycles are mated to a 6-speed gearbox.Despite having a smaller engine than the Royal Enfield, the BMW produces the highest power and torque figures of the three. When it comes to pricing, the BMW F 450 GS is priced between Rs 4.70 lakh and Rs 5.30 lakh, ex-showroom, making it the most expensive option here. The KTM 390 Adventure S is priced at Rs 3.97 lakh, while the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is priced between Rs 3.06 lakh and Rs 3.37 lakh. This makes the Himalayan the cheapest choice by a clear margin.
