Online chatter is ramping up about the possibility that ‘Doomsday’ could release its first official trailer on April 26. Although there has been no confirmation from Marvel Studios, some users have gone as far as asking Marvel to release the trailer to mark the occasion, as the film will have a direct tie-in with ‘Doomsday’.
The makers are planning to re-release the box office blockbuster before ‘Doomsday’ hits theaters on December 18. Despite the buzz online, no actual footage of ‘Doomsday’ has surfaced online since CinemaCon, where the trailer was reportedly screened behind closed doors.
According to reports, Marvel’s improved anti-piracy measures in the event may have prevented leaks. According to attendee accounts shared online, green laser beams were seen sweeping across the theater during the presentation. Initially mistaken for joke laser pointers, the lights were believed to be part of a monitoring system designed to detect unauthorized recordings.
The system reportedly used night vision technology to identify phones that were trying to shoot movies, triggering lasers that would interrupt recordings when the screens went dark.
Others have also noted that the CinemaCon audience is very different from regular ComicCon fan conventions, as it is largely made up of theater owners and industry professionals who are more inclined to stream content than the general public.
While the trailer hasn’t leaked online, descriptions of the footage have made their way online. According to reports, Robert Downey Jr. will appear in a different voice for his portrayal of Tony Stark portraying Doctor Doom, “Before this day is over, we will be faced with an unthinkable decision.”
Other scenes depicted include Thor clashing with Doom before meeting Steve Rogers, ending in a moment where Mjolnir leaves Thor’s hand and flies towards Rogers.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ was a huge success at the box office, earning an estimated $2.799 billion. This not only made it one of the highest-grossing films of all time, but also helped it break numerous records, including the fastest film to cross USD 1 billion (5 days).
