Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honors at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park Crematorium on Monday. Relatives, friends, film personalities and politicians gathered to pay their last respects. But, Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, who were closely associated with the star, were conspicuously absent.
Salman and Shah Rukh skipped Asha Bhosle’s funeral
According to a report on Deccan Chronicle, Shah Rukh and Salman were in Mumbai at the time of the funeral, but chose not to attend allegedly for “security reasons”. While the two actors did not issue an official statement, reports indicate that the decision was linked to concerns about crowd management and security at the high-profile gathering.
Salman Khan pays tribute to Asha Bhosle
Although they were unable to attend the funeral, Salman paid tribute to the icon on Sunday. In a post on his X handle, Salman shared a photo of the music legend and wrote, “A huge loss to Indian music… Heartbroken to hear about Asha ji. An irreplaceable voice, Your songs will continue to inspire generations.”Asha Bhosle’s voice has also featured in Salman’s films over the years. He sang some memorable songs in his films, including the popular ‘Lucky Lips’ from Lucky: No Time for Love (2005). Shah Rukh Khan also paid a moving tribute to the legendary singer, remembering him as “one of the pillars of Indian cinema”.In a heartfelt post on social media, SRK wrote, “Truly saddened to learn of Asha Tai’s demise. Her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate across the world for centuries.”“A talent that will outlive many, he always filled me with blessings and love and I will miss him. Rest in peace Asha Tai. I love you,” he added.
