“No one knows what controversy will happen after the release”
Reacting to the controversies and criticism surrounding the film, Anil Kapoor said that as actors, their responsibility is to portray the characters given to them honestly.“As an artist and an actor, you do your best for the character and the role. No one knows before release what discussion or criticism will happen later,” he said. The actor added that the team worked very faithfully on the emotional core of the film, especially in the complicated father-son relationship shown between his and Ranbir Kapoor’s characters.
Anil Kapoor says the father-son scenes were drawn from personal experiences
Talking about the emotionally intense scenes in the film, Anil revealed that both he and Ranbir drew a lot from their real-life experiences and family relationships.“We delved a lot into our personal experiences. Ranbir’s relationship with his father, his relationship with my son and my father – all those dynamics came into the scenes,” he shared. Also, while the dialogue may have been written differently, the emotional anguish behind the scenes was very real for both actors.“The lines may be different, but the underlying emotions were very real for both of us,” he added.
“These quarrels and quarrels were discussed in detail”
Anil Kapoor also spoke about the controversial father-son confrontation scenes in the film, aggressive moments of neck grabbing and slapping. He explained that many of these scenes were heavily improvised during discussions between him, Ranbir Kapoor and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.“Actors usually say, ‘Don’t hit hard, just one slap.’ But here the thought process was different. We realistically discussed how angry the father would be in that situation,” he explained.According to the actor, the emotional intensity of the scenes came from these conversations and improvisations during rehearsals.“Ranbir, the director and I used to sit together and discuss all the dynamics. Credit goes to the director for bringing out the best in those discussions,” he said.
“The neck grab was definitely real”
When asked if the physical confrontations in the film were real, Anil admitted that some parts were real, although they were exaggerated due to the influence of cinema.“In films there is always an exaggeration for drama. In reality there might be a slap or two, but cinema makes it more dramatic,” he shared. However, he clarified that some of the physical moments, especially the aggressive tackle in the fights, were done realistically.“But yes, the collar capture was definitely real,” he added.
