In true movie star fashion, the actress wowed fans and photographers as she stepped out of her car in a sleek black and white ensemble.The Oscar-winning actress attended the event in a sleek black strapless Bottega Veneta dress, under an oversized white Calvin Klein jacket, and completed her sophisticated look with a pair of dark aviators. Looking up at the movie star, Jolie paused to greet fans, sign autographs and take pictures before heading into the building.

Jolie’s revelation comes as she promotes ‘Couture’, a project she said was ‘deeply personal’. A film directed and written by a famous French filmmaker Alice WinocourJolie portrays Maxine, an American film director working on a fashion show in Europe who is diagnosed with breast cancer.

In promotion of the film, Jolie recently hosted an intimate dinner at Atelier Jolie, her creative collective in downtown New York, on June 15. The event brought together cancer survivors, medical professionals and creatives to celebrate strength, healing and community.

Reflecting on the film and her collaboration with Winocour, Jolie said at the event: “Alice is a wonderful director and approaches the stories of Couture women with sensitivity and hope. The film is not about the end of my character, but about a renewed desire to live life to the last breath, which especially resonates with me at this point in my life.”The actress also opened up about her personal journey while making the film: “I’m not sure I was strong enough to do this even five years ago. To be open and confident enough to share and be vulnerable again.”

Speaking about loss and family, Jolie added: “Things happen in life that derail us. We lose ourselves and feel isolated. I would give anything for my mother to be alive to be there for her grandchildren.”The actress premiered Couture at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, where she discussed the film with Variety and said, “I felt very vulnerable.” He added, “I feel like it’s such a personal movie. It felt so private that in my mind, it’s probably going to be a movie that doesn’t feel like a movie at all.”The film is particularly personal for the actor, whose mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died of ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. In 2013, Jolie publicly revealed that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy after learning that she had a mutation in the BRCA1 gene, which significantly increased her risk of breast cancer.
