Akshaye Khanna Rehman Daikat is back in the limelight after playing crime kingpins in ‘Dhurandhar’, but the actor Amit Behl says the actor’s off-screen behavior has long shown a different side of him. He recalled an incident on a film set when Akshaye lost his temper when Behl stopped an actor from having lunch at a hotel buffet. The actor, who is known for speaking very little, stepped up and strongly defended the dignity of a fellow artiste.

SCREEN reports that Amit Behl recalled the incident in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. He said it happened on the sets of a film he was working with Akshaye Khanna. A character actor, staying at another hotel, came to the hotel where the main cast and crew were having lunch.
“When this actor took his first bite at the hotel’s lunch buffet, he realized that the producer’s wife or some relative was not there and said that he should not eat that food. As he started, someone from the production came and said, “Sir, you can’t eat this.” He was hurt and quietly put the plate aside and sat on his own,” Behl said.

Behl said Akshaye saw the incident from a distance and reacted immediately. “Akshay, who usually speaks very little, gave a speech about what hunger really means and what respect really means. That day, I realized how alive and thoughtful he is with his artists.”According to Behl, Akshaye scolded the producer and the crew involved. He said that Akshay told them, “A film is not about the number of plates or how much food you have; it is made with people’s blessings.”Behl added: “It seems a man who barely speaks has finally unleashed his inner volcano.”Akshaye ‘Dhurandhar’ is receiving accolades. In an exclusive chat with SCREEN, casting director Mukesh Chhabra said the team considered many names before finalizing for the role. “We jotted down a lot of names for his role and then shortlisted them, finally casting Akshaye. He just came to the narration, that was the beautiful part. After it was over, he looked at me and said, ‘I love it, I love it, man.‘”Chhabra added, “I will read it today and get back to you.” She said that Akshaye is “a man of his word” and takes all decisions himself.
