CHENNAI: Daughter of a tailor, Ayesha Thanseem always wanted to become a doctor. On Wednesday, he took the first step in that direction by scoring 497/500.Ayesha, a student of Government Muslim Higher Secondary School, is now not only the city topper and state third among government school students, but also among the three top scorers in the city in private, aided and corporation schools. Elated, she told TOI, “I feel really happy and dedicate this to my parents and teachers. I can’t wait to learn more about biology in the coming years, and I am confident of scoring well in class 12 as well.”As Ayesha takes her next step, her father, M Kaja Mohadin, is aware of the financial constraints that lie ahead. “I am not financially sound and barely earn Rs 20,000 to 25,000 a month, half of which goes towards rent. I know I have to spend a lot on NEET coaching for my daughter. I am going to start preparing now.”The school staff said that the student has always been bright and if she applied for re-evaluation she could score 500/500, making her a topper in the state. “Ayesha is also a beneficiary of the National Men’s-cum-Merit Scholarship and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Talent Search Exam, through which she gets a scholarship. She will bring more fame to the school and herself,” said school principal Kanmani Priya.
