The scene in question is when Nikki begs Bear to release her from the curse, only for him to look at her and ask, “What’s wrong with being with me?” This question has many fans online wondering how, even after everything that happened, Bear didn’t want to let Nikki go because he wanted to be in control.Pointing to this theory, one fan explained: “The real fear in Obsession isn’t Nikki, it’s Bear, because Bear represents a type of terror that is very real to so many women. Men whose ego, obsession, entitlement and need for control can completely ruin your life and change your future forever. He didn’t love Nikki; she loved the idea of him and the fantasy of being chosen.”

Another person online shared her thoughts, adding: “Love how no one understood the real message of obsession is for men who idealize to unrealistic levels. Bear didn’t love Nikki, he loved the idea of her. He didn’t know the real Nikki.” “Bear’s blind love for Nikki was his downfall,” the same netizen said.
