Speaking to Filmibeat, Imtiaz shared his excitement about Ranbir taking on the dual roles of Lord Rama and Parshuram, noting that as an actor, Ranbir has the ability to bring a sense of authenticity and depth to both the character Rama and the divine figure Bhagwan Rama. The director expressed his belief in approaching Rama’s character with humanity and intimacy, to make it feel personal rather than distant. Imtiaz further highlighted what this role means for Ranbir’s journey as an artist, saying, “It will be immensely beneficial for Ranbir to play Rama because he is the kind of actor he is. [that] it absorbs from the character. He will take Rama and that will be very rewarding for him.”

‘Ramayana: Part 1’ is set to release worldwide on Diwali 2026, and the film has already started creating global buzz after a special preview at CinemaCon this year. After the success of ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, Imtiaz is teaming up with Diljit Dosanjh once again for the project ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’. Written and directed by Imtiaz himself, the Hindi film weaves a romantic story set against the backdrop of Partition, featuring Vedang Raina and Sharvari in lead roles. Naseeruddin Shah portrays the old avatar of Vedang’s character, while Diljit steps into the shoes of his grandson.
