Despite Gujarat Titans losing against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, the captain Shabman Gul Created history with another brilliant IPL season as captain.Gill scored a brilliant knock of 85 off 49 balls with five fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 173.47 during GT’s chase against his former franchise. With this innings, the Gujarat skipper entered an elite list that includes legends. David Warner, Virat Kohli And Sachin Tendulkar To record more than one 500-run IPL season as a captain.Gayle has scored 552 runs at an average of 46.00 and a strike rate of 160.46 in 12 matches so far this season, including five fifties. He is currently just behind opening partner Sai Siddharsan, who leads Gujarat’s run charts with 554 runs. This is the second time Gill has led a franchise to cross the 500-run mark in an IPL season. Last year, in his first season as GT captain, he scored 650 runs in 15 innings at an average of 50.00 and a strike rate of 155.87, finishing as the tournament’s fourth-highest run-scorer.Only Warner and KL Rahul have achieved more than 500 IPL seasons as captains. Warner recorded three such seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 848 runs in 2016, 641 in 2017 and 692 in 2018. Rahul scored 500 runs in three consecutive seasons (670 runs in 2020, 626 runs in 2020 and 626 runs in Punjab) as captain of Lucknow Supergiants.Gill now joins Tendulkar and Kohli, who have registered two 500-plus IPL seasons as captains. Tendulkar achieved the feat for Mumbai Indians in 2010 and 2011, while Kohli hit 973 runs during his extraordinary 2016 campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru after surpassing the mark of 557 runs for the first time in 2015.The GT skipper also continues to enjoy batting against his former team KKR. In six innings against Kolkata, Gayle has now scored 356 runs at an impressive average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 158.22, including three fifties and a top score of 90.
