Shekhar Suman He gave India its first desi late night talk show in 1997 with ‘Movers And Shakers’. But what people loved the most were Suman’s funny impressions, especially the one he did on the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He started his career in the films ‘Utsav’, starring Rekha, but became much more popular on television. He later hosted two more talk shows, ‘Simply Shekhar’ and ‘Carry On Shekhar’. In 2005, he also appeared as a judge on ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ along with Navjot Singh Sidhu, though he left the show midway through. After a gap of 14 years, Suman is back with a new show titled ‘Shekhar Tonite’ which premiered on 15th May on YouTube. The first guest of the show was the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
When Atal Bihari Vajpayee stopped Shekhar Suman’s bandwagon
On the show, Shekhar spoke about a personal and emotional meeting he once had with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He shared, “I went to the industrialist’s son’s wedding, and he was there as the chief guest. As his chariot was moving, I ran so that they could see me. Mr. Vajpayee stopped the car, got out and went to me. He hugged me and slapped me and said, ‘I have been looking for you for a long time.’ I record your show and watch it every day. And when you pull away from me, I laugh the loudest. Never stop the show. I love it.”
Gadkari supports PM Modi’s appeal on international travel
When asked how the filmmakers respond Prime Minister ModiThe appeal to reduce international travel, Gadkari was correct. He said: “They better listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi if they know what’s good! If the Prime Minister says that, we have to listen to him. There must be some strong and serious reasons behind it: not buying gold, using less petrol and diesel and working from home. Probably, he is hiding a crisis because of the war that was going on. So there is a point.“
